About the MWJDS Keter Shem Tov Award
The MWJDS Keter Shem Tov (Crown of a Good Name) award, in memory of David Elovtiz, zt’l, recognizes outstanding individuals who have been essential to the creation, building and strengthening of MetroWest Jewish Day School.
The Metrowest Jewish community has a rich legacy of committed and dedicated Jewish leadership. From its very beginning, MWJDS has been the recipient of the knowledge, resources, wisdom and guidance so generously given by community leaders. These precious gifts form the collective memory of our past and direct our vision towards the future. In the spring of 2012, MWJDS and the whole Jewish community lost a dear friend with the passing of David Elovitz, zt’l. As Me’ah classmates in 1998, David and his wife Fran listened to the first thoughts about creating a Jewish day school locally and encouraged Renée Finn to continue to engage community. From the very beginning, they generously supported MWJDS. David believed that Jewish institutions are strengthened when working together and encouraged the day school/synagogue relationship. Even while serving as President of another day school, David was always available to mentor MWJDS leadership and lent his expertise to the Site Committee. He was always accessible, always kind and patient, and always respectful. His neshama (soul) reflected the core values of MWJDS.
Recommendations or information about this award may be directed to the Board of Directors or the administration staff of MWJDS. This award is to be presented to a community member deserving of such recognition.
