Dr. Barry Ruthfield Excellence in Teaching Award
The Dr. Barry Ruthfield Excellence in Teaching Award was created in 2014 to honor MWJDS faculty members who live and breath our school values. This award recognizes the impact of excellent teaching on the MetroWest Jewish Day School community. The award was named for Dr. Barry Ruthfield(z’l), who as co-president of the MWJDS Board of Directors, helped lead MWJDS to new heights. He highly valued education and served a mentor to many educators and administrators during his long career in education. He served as a teacher, principal, and superintendent, before retiring from the Ashland Public School system. Dr. Ruthfield also served as a professor and the Director of Placement at the International Education Program at Framingham State University, where he inspired a new generation of teachers and administrators. MWJDS established the Dr. Barry Ruthfield Excellence in Teaching Award to recognize teachers at MWJDS who truly live our school motto: Educating each child according to their own path.
