There are many ways for parents to be engaged with their child’s learning experience and MWJDS community. From participating in classroom activities to fund-raising to cooking hot lunch to supporting families at times of need to leading Mitzvah Day projects, there is something for everyone.
The Family Connection is an organized way in which parents, grandparents and other special caregivers are able to be involved and complement the formal education at MWJDS. Our goals include increasing the community and spirit among families, providing opportunities for family enrichment and offering services that enhance the school environment.
Some of our plans for this year include:
- Plan and schedule enrichment programs for the students
- Coordinate weekly fresh challah for children to bring home
- Coordinate and serve a hot lunch program for the students
- Build the school Sukkah
- Create the annual yearbook
- Plan family and parent social outings
- Plan and provide teacher appreciation gifts and lunch
- Organize various fund-raising events
Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is comprised of representatives (Room Parents) from each classroom, the President of Family Connection, MWJDS BoD VP of Education and Community, and our Head of School.
The committee conducts regularly scheduled meetings as a forum for discussing key issues taht impact our school community. Within this forum, parents express positive feedback, provide constructive suggestions for improvement, and gain clearer understanding of school policies and programs. Our administrators hear and respond to our parents and elicit valuable feedback that is crucial to their effective decision making. Parents should direct questions to their Room Parent for consideration on the next agenda. Minutes from the PAC are distributed in the Mini-Moment.
