Honoring Renée and Steven Finn, MWJDS Founders
Renée and Steven Finn dreamed of a Jewish day school in Boston’s Metrowest area. Ten years later, their dream is alive and well. The Finns, due to their extraordinary commitment to the burgeoning MetroWest Jewish Day School, were honored on Sunday, November 13 at Gann Academy.
Together with dedicated board members, parents, staff, volunteers and donors, The Finns have succeeded in creating what had never been done in the before – opening a community school in Metrowest for all families raising Jewish children, regardless of background or observance. Beginning its 9th academic year this fall with students in grades K – 7, MWJDS is the only pluralistic school between Route 128 and Worcester, encompassing two dozen communities. Integrating 21st century skills with Jewish traditions, our inaugural class of 8th graders will graduate in the spring of 2013.
On November 13, 2011, the Metrowest and Greater Boston communities gathered to honor Renée and Steven Finn for their vision, determination and generosity at the 10th Anniversary Winter Lights Gala. This was an evening of ceremony and celebration.
