MWJDS Parent Workshop – Note change of Topic from original brochure

HOMEWORK WITHOUT TEARS! Tues. March 11 @ 7:00 pm - Questions about homework cover everything from “Should there be homework at all?” to “How much help should I give my child?” to “What should parents do when they can’t understand the assignment?” In this workshop, Rachel Fier M.Ed, MWJDS Director of Curriculum, and Phoebe K. Schnitzer PhD, MWJDS Clinical Psychologist, will discuss how teachers and parents can handle the homework process to maximize its effectiveness for our elementary students. Central to the discussion will be two issues:

  • The Teachers’ Role: “How can we make homework as meaningful as possible?”
  • The Parents’ Role: “Whose homework is it anyway!

Please join us and encourage friends to attend as well. Free tuition.

Ikkarim

The MetroWest Jewish Day School hosted Ikkarim, Modern Choices/Jewish Texts: Jewish Values and the Journey for Jewish Parents.  Parents explored basic Jewish values and their modern significance by bringing their own contemporary concerns to text-study. They discovered how these values apply within—and can enrich—our many circles of relationships: with our children, spouses and friends; with our fellow citizens and community; with our people; and even with ourselves and with God.

This exciting adult learning program is for parents of children newborn to age five and is a project of The Adult Learning Collaborative, a program of: Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Hebrew College in partnership with area Jewish institutions.  For further information, call 617-457-8586 or email .
