Family Connection

The Family Connection is a group of involved and committed individuals who are a strong complement to the MWJDS community. We are comprised of parents, grandparents, and other important people in the student's lives. The only requirement is a belief that together we can help make the school even better!  Our goals include increasing the comradery and spirit among families, providing opportunities for family enrichment, and offering services that enhance the school environment.

Some of our plans for this year include:

• Continuing our monthly hot lunch program for the students
• Arranging for the delivery of fresh challah to children's homes
• Sponsoring several Social Action programs for our students, families, and community
• Programming our annual Stevesongs concert for the school and community
• Organizing an MWJDS family bowling event  
• Planning and providing teacher appreciation gifts and lunch
• Organizing various fundraising events such as community garage sale .....and more!!

Family Connection in Action

In September of 2005, MWJDS Family Connection parents coordinated a school supplies donation drive to benefit a day school in Mobile, AL.

In September 2005 our school became a donation location for The Family Table, the area's only Jewish food pantry.  We collect Parmalat and raisins.  The Family Connection coordinates the donations and deliveries to Jewish Family Sevice of Boston.  All MWJDS families are encouraged to bring in one item each Shabbat for the blue Family Table donation box.

In January 2005, the Family Connection held its second annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon. They prepared a wonderful meal from scratch, set tables, served the staff, made recipe booklets and best of all, cleaned up! Also in January the Family Connection and MWJDS hosted a great concert featuring SteveSongs.

On Election Day, November 2, 2004, the Family Connection held a Krispy Kreme fundraising event.
