Head of School
Carolyn Keller is a nationally recognized Jewish leader, educator, and innovator. In five years at MWJDS, she has established an educational institution which has become a center of learning and Jewish celebration for adults and children in Metrowest, while developing a state-of-the-art curriculum which integrates Judaic and secular education.
Before coming to MWJDS, Carolyn served for nine years as Director of the Commission on Jewish Continuity and Education of Combined Jewish Philanthropies. Programs initiated under Carolyn include Me'ah, the leading model of adult Jewish literacy which is now offered throughout Greater Boston and is being replicated in other states; Sha'arim, which trains family educators to help synagogues and community centers create meaningful family programming; and ACE (Advancing Congregational Education), which provides consultation to congregations in the areas of education, governance, and programming.
Carolyn is former Director of Camp Ramah in New England and of several religious schools. She has also been an instructor at Hebrew College and a Jerusalem Fellow. Her numerous community awards include the Keter Torah Award for Excellence in Jewish Education from the Bureau of Jewish Education; the Sidney Hillson Educational Award from Hebrew College, the Bernard Reisman Award for an Outstanding Community Professional from Brandeis University; and the Community Service Award from the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts.
